Digital Account Director

 

Purpose of the role

As the senior contact for clients, you coordinate, protect and grow the account base. You understand client’s challenges and business needs to encourage and drive sustainable growth and profitability. Influencing client relationships, you build rapport and gain trust to confidently and effectively deliver results to budget and timescales. You inspire teams creatively and commercially to plan and execute successful projects and campaigns which generate individual and team progression and return for the clients.

The candidate needs to have a passion for all things digital and experience of building and maintaining websites. Previous digital agency experience is essential.

Description of responsibilities

 Client development and retention

  • Developing positive, collaborative and productive relationships with clients
  • Demonstrating a clear understanding of clients’ business and their sector with liaison and support from Strategy
  • Sharing client knowledge across the agency to facilitate the implementation of compelling campaigns
  • Supporting and challenging client thinking where appropriate to deliver the right solution(s)
  • Implementing and reviewing SLA’s and contracts with new business clients and working within the agreements
  • Delivering on time and on budget for every project
  • Demonstrating a pro-active approach to clients’ needs and expectations, by always supporting timescales and budgets
  • Retaining clients spend through tactical management of their needs’, challenges and priorities
  • Initiating regular reviews of the Agency’s performance based on client feedback and presenting back to the senior team
  • Identifying and voicing any opportunities to improve efficiency, processes and profitability of the team and agency

Progression of work and processes

  • Weekly WIP and status meetings to manage capacity and workload and any potential challenges
  • Overseeing the delivery of contact and status reports, estimates, purchase orders and schedules
  • Supporting the agreed Creative process with Creative to eliminate ambiguity and re-work
  • Managing and negotiating with suppliers to ensure maximum value and quality against agreed timescales
  • Preferably daily, but always weekly, you keep your time sheets up to date and accurate, so we ensure we are delivering profitability
  • Coordinating the review of agency processes to support continual progress

Management Accounts/Forecasting

  • Weekly attendance of Finance meetings to review and report on budget changes
  • Forecasting income/profit using Management Accounts to ensure delivery of budget
  • Weekly updates of management accounts and keeping the GAD/MD informed of financial changes affecting forecast
  • Annual preparation and setting of budgets with Directors
  • Ensuring the team are charging for additional work and extra amends where appropriate
  • Demonstrating financial diligence and commerciality on all jobs, for quoting and billing whilst retaining value for money

Business Development

  • Collaboratively working with the senior team to drive business growth through existing clients and to win new business
  • Utilising networks to uncover potential new business opportunities
  • Ensuring all completed jobs are turned into case studies to support new business meetings
  • Costing, scheduling and management of pitch detail.

People management and development

  • Encouraging collaboration and communication between relevant teams
  • Giving direction to the team by clearly defining and setting expectations
  • Reviewing team and individual performance to encourage improvement and potential
  • Managing issues professionally using the appropriate processes
  • Encouraging and motivating people to deliver
  • Passing on skills and experience to help others to develop in their roles
  • Ensuring the team are aware of and adhering to all processes and systems
  • Communicating progress to the Board for continuous business improvement.
