Senior Account Manager

To provide day-to-day support to the Account Director for protecting and growing the agency’s account base by understanding client’s challenges and business needs to encourage growth and profitability. To confidently and effective deliver required results to budget and timescales

Description of responsibilities

 Client Management

  • Managing and owning client relationships, being their main point of contact for all activity
  • Developing positive, collaborative and productive relationships with clients
  • Working to SLA’s and contracts with clients and working within the agreements
  • Demonstrating a clear understanding of clients’ business and their sector with liaison and support from Strategy
  • Sharing knowledge of clients with the wider team to broaden and develop an in depth understanding of their market
  • Delivering on time and on budget for every project
  • Supporting and challenging client thinking where appropriate to deliver the right solution(s)
  • Demonstrating a pro-active approach to clients’ needs and expectations, by always supporting their timescales and budgets


Coordinating and progressing work

  • Weekly WIP and status meetings to manage capacity and workload and any potential challenges
  • To ensure the delivery of contact and status reports, estimates, purchase orders, schedules and the saving of work on the system for future use
  • Supporting the agreed Creative process with Creative to eliminate ambiguity and re-work
  • Managing and negotiating with suppliers to ensure maximum value and quality against agreed timescales
  • Preferably daily, but always weekly, you keep your time sheets up to date and accurate, so we ensure we are delivering profitability
  • Continually reviewing, challenging and refining our processes to support continual progress.


Management Accounts/Forecasting

  • Weekly updates of management accounts and keeping the AD informed of financial changes affecting forecast
  • Forecasting income/profit using Management Accounts to enable forward planning for the business
  • Charging for additional work and extra amends where appropriate
  • Demonstrating financial diligence and commerciality on all jobs, for quoting and billing whilst retaining value for money
  • Completing an end of job analysis and summarising actual hours against quoted hours with supporting rationale.


Business Development

  • Identifying new opportunities within existing accounts by utilising networks, relationships and leads
  • Ensuring all completed jobs are turned into case studies to support new business meetings
  • Costing, scheduling and management of pitch detail.


People management

  • Giving direction to the team by clearly defining and setting expectations
  • Reviewing individual performance to encourage improvement and potential
  • Managing issues professionally and using the appropriate processes
  • Setting and demonstrating positive examples and behaviours for others to follow
  • Passing on skills and experience to help others to develop in their roles
  • Ensuring the team are aware of and adhering to all processes and systems
  • Communicating progress to encourage continuous business improvement
  • Utilising all available opportunities to personally develop in the role.
