If you’re anything like us, you get giddy about effective and blindingly brilliant creative. So, call off the search for inspiration, we present to you a list of the best TV ads of 2024 so far (if we do say so ourselves):
Specsavers – Airport
Why? Bringing relatable scenarios to life, the ad is crafted entirely without dialogue, leaving the comedic emphasis on visual humour.
Set in one of the busiest and most stressful places imaginable, the audience is taken through a series of tense-yet-amusing events. Despite being a comedy sketch in its own right, it has a more serious message at heart – mistakes can easily be made when your eyesight’s failing.
It goes to show, you don’t have to show any product, to land your brand message. And, that’s why we like it!
Barclays – Make Money Work For You
Why? What isn’t entertaining about a bunch of seven-year-olds acting like adults?! This amusing take on how we navigate financial matters brings a breath of fresh air to marketing in the banking world.
We love this example as it demonstrates the value of better insight – in this case, that most people’s relationship with money is informed from the age of seven (with Barclays encouraging people to start a new one with them, of course). We’re all about insight, if you couldn’t tell…
B&Q – You Can Do It, When You B&Q It
Why? Bringing new life to its classic slogan from the 80s, B&Q empowers audiences – of all types and abilities to tackle home improvement projects themselves
The world wants us to believe there’s not enough time or skill to take on neglected jobs at home. But, after spotlighting excuses that discourage people from doing a bit of DIY, a sledgehammer knocks down physical walls at home, simultaneously representing the broken-down mental barriers to starting DIY projects.
This ad brings tonnes of meaning to ‘if it’s not broke, don’t fix it’. 40 years since the hard-working, memorable slogan came into our lives, and it’s as relevant as ever.
KCOM – The Power Is All Yours
Why? KCOM is the WIFI provider in the North East, but the industry goliaths have recently come to town. We know it’s cheeky to nominate our own work, but this campaign featuring a new brand proposition, ‘The power is all yours’, really raises the bar for regional campaigns.
Demonstrating how a local family can feel the full benefits of best-in-class performance, the live-action scenes are brought to life with killer internet graphics around the home. It’s already gaining real traction and goes toe-to-toe with the national megacorps
Monzo – Money Feels Different on Monzo
Why? Monzo transforms the negative stressful feelings associated with money management into empowering ones, quite literally turning dread into dreams.
Juxtaposing these category pain points in a simple yet humorous way shows how a single-minded message can often be best landed without the fluff. What’s more, it’s in the top 15% of all UK finance ads in potential to drive short-term impact, and in the top 30% in potential to drive long-term impact. It works!
