The National Coal Mining Museum is one of the best tourist attractions in the North with many unique features that dig deep into the history of coal mining. The museum was a working coal mine from the late 1780’s up until 1985, and offers an underground tour into the old coal pit as well as other fascinating exhibits.
Better Insights
The National Coal Mining Museum approached us for a new website as their old site was very out of date and not fit for purpose. The team wanted a focus on user experience and the site being accessible and fully responsive, driving ticket sales being the ultimate aim.
We used our extensive website design and development knowledge to design and build this new site.
Better Ideas
We created a fresh and modern site with some unique and complex features, including a fully interactive map with clickable nodes to allow for full 360 views of attractions, an events area to buy tickets for unique exhibits, donation forms, a Collections area to explore the museum exhibits and an e-learning portal with resources for schools.
Site Refresh
Since the website was launched in 2021, we’ve made a number of improvements to make sure it is running at its optimum for customers. These additions are based on analysis using a number of performance marketing tools, looking at how customers are using the website and improving performance.
This included a brand new homepage design and build to improve the customer experience and make sure traffic was being pushed to museum events.
